INTERVIEW WITH SIDHARTH GUPTA
Hi, I am Sidharth Gupta and I come from India. I started my studies here at Hochschule der Medien as a student enrolled in Print Media Technologies in the year 2020. My interest in the printing industry was sparked by my family’s printing business running for the last two decades. I got the picture that there was more to this industry more that we, as a firm, could achieve, and more, that we could offer to our customers. The curiosity in my mind was driven even further when I visited Print-Pack 2019. I was stunned to see how much scope the field of printing and packaging had, and that’s when I decided to pursue my studies into this field.
After exploring various prospective universities to look for a course that integrates Engineering, Business and Design with print and media, I found out that HDM was the best option of all because of the advanced technologies and the expertise it offers that could help me explore different areas of printing. The course offers students a chance to increase their sphere of knowledge about different areas of printing, along with business management skills, and to work on some of the latest printing machines used in the industry. It also offers a vast range of facilities, like a well-maintained library, well-equipped labs, and projects and events that make student life engaging and entertaining.
I was enrolled in the course in the winter semester 2020/21 and the lectures began in the month of October 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak and there were restrictions on travel at the time. The course made it possible to conduct all the lectures in hybrid mode, which was both online and offline, so that students who were not able to come to Stuttgart at the time could attend the lectures online.
The unique thing about this course is the international environment it offers to the students. You will meet people from all different parts of the world coming from different cultures and backgrounds studying under the same roof.
Throughout my journey here at PMT, I have been able to make visits to various companies involved in different businesses related to print and packaging which helped me to get better insights into the industry and I have been part of various interesting projects that integrated creativity along with technical aspects of working with different machinery which resulted in winning prestigious awards like Druck und Medien Award for the project “Make Art Not War” and Fedrigoni Card Couture Award for project “London Out Of Time”.
The curriculum of Print Media Technology at HdM focusses on growth at the individual level. It integrates the academic scientific knowledge of one’s creativity and corporate management, making it suitable for the growth and development of a person. I hope that one day, I’ll be able to put to use the knowledge and skills that I’ll acquire here at HdM, to help take our family business to even greater heights.
