PMT FACULTY ON PAPER – THE SERIES

Interview with Prof. Dr. Lindenmann

What inspired you to become a professor and what is your favorite part about teaching at HdM?
What inspired me to become a professor is the opportunity to be surrounded by young, curious minds and to share the knowledge I’ve gained over the years. I enjoy the freedom that comes with teaching and researching, as it allows me to explore new ideas while passing on valuable insights to the next generation.

What do you value most about the PMT major/curriculum?

What I value most about the PMT curriculum is its uniqueness in embedding a wide range of printing technologies. It brings together diverse techniques, including 3D printing, which aligns with my background, along with many other fascinating methods. That combination makes it an exciting and dynamic field.

What are some common characteristics, passions, and/or career goals of students in the PMT major?

I’m still getting to know the students, as I’m just starting, but I hope curiosity is one of the key traits they bring with them. A passion for exploration and discovery is essential in a field like this.

What advice would you give to students entering the PMT program?

My advice to students entering the PMT program is to develop good habits early on and focus on learning how to learn. Consistency in your efforts will always outweigh one-time bursts of hard work, so it’s crucial to stay steady and disciplined.

What advice would you give students for being successful in your courses?

To be successful in my courses, it’s important to engage fully, ask questions, and not be afraid of making mistakes. Curiosity is key, embracing a mindset of inquiry will help students deepen their understanding and improve along the way.
