My name is Will, I am British, and I am currently moving onto my second semester of the Print Media Technologies programme here at Hochschule der Medien. 

 

My home country, the UK, is the second-largest packaging and printing market in Europe. Many British industrial groups and brand owners have specialized in the field of packaging printing and development. Whether on film, paper, or board, British companies are making an important contribution to new developments. That’s why I chose the Print Media Technologies engineering degree programme in Germany— not only do I get a good education in the field of print and packaging, I also learn German.

 

Since moving here in October 2023 I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying in Stuttgart and getting to understand the demands that are required of me for this course and what it takes to succeed here. In the past five months, I have acquired numerous new skills and gained a wealth of knowledge. I am eager to continue learning in the upcoming semesters.

 

Another reason why I chose the Print Media Technologies course is because of its uniqueness. I firmly believe that this program will provide me with more opportunities to pursue my interests in print and packaging. Many universities lack the funds, equipment or space to operate the equipment you find at HdM’s technology centre.

 

One of the most exciting aspects of this programme is its international character. You will meet people from all different parts of the world and with that they all bring their own unique cultures, which I always like to learn about as it puts into perspective how every country is different to my own. I am very grateful to have such impressive student colleagues around me on this course whilst studying here and I look forward to spending the next few years with them.
