Interview With Adrian Reimann

My name is Adrian, a 24-year-old student in my second semester of studying Print Media Technologies at Hochschule der Medien (HdM). I hail from a small village in northern Germany and began my journey in the print media industry as an apprentice printer at a medium-sized company. During my apprenticeship, my primary responsibility was operating printing presses, which gave me hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the industry’s technical aspects.

Germany is renowned for its numerous press manufacturers and suppliers to the printing industry, as well as a diverse range of printing establishments, from regional newspapers to large packaging companies. Throughout my training, I developed a keen interest in the various facets of the printing sector, including mechanical engineering, ink production, and product development. This broad spectrum of opportunities motivated me to pursue further education.

However, the global pandemic temporarily derailed my plans to enroll directly in a university program. Nevertheless, I utilized this time effectively by working as a Technical Customer Service Representative at my previous company. This role allowed me to gain valuable professional experience and engage with international customers and suppliers, further broadening my industry knowledge and skills.

The decision to study at HdM was influenced by several factors. Many of my colleagues, who had also studied at HdM, have advanced to prominent positions within the industry. They are department heads in print shops, printing press developers, and even marketing professionals in food companies. Their success is proof that an HdM degree is highly regarded in the printing sector.

I chose HdM because it has the best vocational school in the country. My teacher and industry professionals all said the same thing. HdM has the best equipment and the best theoretical courses. That’s why I chose it.R

The Print Media Technologies program at HdM is the best in the world. Students from all over the world contribute their unique cultures and perspectives, offering a rich and diverse learning environment. This international exposure enhances our educational experience and provides invaluable insights into different cultural approaches to the industry. Outside of lectures, we often gather to study, celebrate, or simply share a meal, fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration.

In short, I am where I am today because of my passion for the printing industry and my commitment to furthering my education. I am confident that the experiences and skills I have gained along the way will prepare me for a successful career in this dynamic field. I am excited to continue my studies and professional development at HdM.
